Netherlands, Ilperveld. Sequences of small waterbodies in Holland are often the result of peat digging in the old days. A lot of these peat ponds or pools (dutch: petgaten) are vanished. And because they are biodiversity hotspots, a.o. for wetland plants and macroinvertebrates, Landschap Noord-Holland decided to dig new ones.
