I took this shot during a dark and windy day right in the middle of a field, my feet and tripod covered in mud. The clouds were streaming by very fast and I thought this is a great way to play the single tree to the gallery with a long exposure. The sun was also breaking through which gave this bright spot in the centre.

The HDR was merged of 3 exposures (30, 8 and 4 sec) with my ND64 filter (6 stops) mounted. I blended the darker exposure in for the sky, but masked out the light beam. So you see it’s not completely artificial… 😉 I also set a high pass filter for the grass in the foreground and the tree and at the same time denoised the sky to get this contrast between the crisp green and the soft shapes within the sky.

Happy new year and welcome back to my site.

It has been a long time since my last post. Forgive me, my computer just let me down and I had to restore thousands of exposures.
Glad that most of my stuff was recovered.

Now, with a new monster machine, new software, new monitor and a fatal bank account left behind I am back on track. Isn’t it funny that the bank clerk knows me by name now?^^

Anyway, I will pay them back sometime^^

Lacking any willing models I focused on this umbrella, fitting quiet well in this scenery.

Hope you all feel good, keep on grooving.

Neuschwanstein in the Bavarian Alps (stitched panorama)

I’ve wanted to visit this place for while now. I was pretty excited with the weather forecast; it was supposed to snow for 3 days and on the fourth day it was supposed to be sunny. So I though, perfect! I flew into Frankfurt from Qatar, and drove to Hohenschwangau (the village near the castle) where I stayed for a few days. The place is beautiful, but at this time of the year the trees aren’t looking that great so the place it’s really not at its best, unless you get a lot of snow. Things weren’t looking so good, the weather forecast didn’t come through when it was supposed to, but I was determined to stay there and wait for the right conditions. On day 6 I decided I wasn’t going to stay more than 7 days, but the snow finally came. It snowed heavy all night, but the sky looked horrible early in the morning, except for about 10-20min when the sun almost came out and I was able to take my shots.

This was shot along the lech river in the alps on the Germany Austria border outside of a small town named füssen. The color on the river is, as it was, i was overwhelmed from the turquoise blue green from the glacier fed river. i actually had to desaturate it in post processing because of the overwhelming color contrast.
