Salt Pond is a “kettle” left behind when the last glaciers receded some 18000 years ago. This very place was charted by French explorer Samuel de Champlain in 1605, in an age when the pond was bigger and still navigatable from the sea. This photo was taken at sunrise in January after a historic snow storm.
