…as per usual, view on black.

Jagged peaks reflect in Upper Tank Lake, Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Not the easiest place to get into but well worth the effort. The stars up here were incredible that night, so much so that I forgot to take any pictures of them and just sat on a granite slab staring face to face with the Milky Way for several hours. Sometimes its well worth it to not take any pictures and just take your surroundings in.

Alpine Lakes Wilderness is probably my most favorite place in the world. Not a year goes by where I am not backpacking out to one of its 700+ lakes. Near the end of 2014 congress passed a bill that encompasses and protects an additional 22,000 acres of forest, lakes and rivers which is a huge win for for the environment and Washington.

I’ve already published a few shots of this same lake but I just really like how this one turned out. This is a panorama of two horizontal images to get that 2:1 aspect ratio I’m very fond of these days. All comments and feedback are much appreciated!
